An Introduction To Strain-Counterstrain

bending lower leg, hands holding knee and ankle

The course will start with an overview of theory and applications followed by demonstrations and practice of basic techniques. These will be applied to differing areas of the body, spine, ribs and pelvis.

As with other practical courses, participants should be prepared to work on each other and should come appropriately prepared.

The course is aimed at any osteopath interested in adding a "patient friendly" technique to their repertoire. It is not, in the lecturer's opinion, a "treat all" modality but a very useful tool for use in both acute and chronic situations where conventional techniques may not be indicated for various reasons.
